Product Review GARMIN S3 GPS Approach Watch

The golf industry has no shortage of great options when it comes to yardage devices. The fine folks at Garmin, an industry leader for 30 years, have upped the ante with the S3 Approach.

We had used the older S2 in the past and loved all of its features. Take those, bundle it up and add the new touch screen on the S3, and you have all the information you need right there on your wrist. This is a user-friendly, accurate GPS device that all golfers should try.

This watch is a no nonsense piece of equipment for all golfers. Pre-loaded with over 20,000 golf courses, the S3 is ready to go as soon as you open the box. The S3 offers all of the critical yardages you need to make good decisions on the course. These include doglegs, layups and yardages to the front, middle and back of every green. Our favorite feature, is the touch screen on the “Green View”.

With this feature, you can move the pin around on the screen to give exact yardages to pin positions as they appear when you are playing.

This watch also includes a scorecard feature, which we think is awesome. After your round, you simply download the info to your computer and you can track scoring and stats to help you track your progress.

The only complaint we have with S3 Approach watch, and it is a small one, is the length of time it takes to charge. However, once charged, the battery life is good and should last through 2 rounds of golf.

All in all, our staff found the S3 Approach watch by Garmin to be a great alternative to bulky, hand held devices that are easy to lose. Imagine... accurate yardages at 20,000 + golf courses right there on your wrist. Awesome!
